Ballooning is beautifully simple once you know the basics.
How long does the ballooning experience last?
Allow around three to four hours for the full experience. The flight itself is usually around an hour, with the rest of the time covering arrival, briefing, inflation, landing, the post-flight celebration and return transport.
When do Peak District balloon flights take place?
Flights normally take place early in the morning or during the evening, when conditions are generally most suitable for ballooning. The exact meeting time varies with the season and your chosen flight date.
Where will the balloon actually fly?
The wind decides the route on the day. Your pilot can use different air currents at different heights, but a balloon does not follow a fixed sightseeing route, which means every flight develops a little differently.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable?
Balloon flights are weather dependent and will only go ahead when conditions are suitable. If your flight cannot operate, you can rearrange it for another available date rather than losing the experience.
What should I wear for a balloon flight?
Dress for time outdoors in the countryside, with comfortable clothing and sensible flat footwear. Launch and landing fields can be damp or uneven, so it is better to think practical rather than formal.
Can I buy a flight as a gift?
Yes. Open-dated vouchers let the recipient arrange the flying date later, with weekday and any-day choices depending on how much flexibility you want to give them.
