Buxton, seven days a week

Your Day.
Your Time.

With flights available seven days a week, you’ve got the freedom to pick a day and time that works best — sunrise or sunset, weekday or weekend.

Flying from Buxton means you’re right on the edge of some stunning scenery. In the mornings, the air is cool and still, and you might catch the first light spilling across the moors. Evening flights often bring wide, open views with long shadows and a gentle drop in the light as the day winds down.

Where you go depends on the breeze, which is all part of the experience. Some flights head towards quiet farmland and distant ridges. Others drift over valleys or out towards the edge of the White Peak. It’s never exactly the same twice — and that’s half the fun.

Your Buxton
Balloon Adventure

Morning or evening, weekday or weekend, the experience begins with the balloon taking shape on the launch field and ends somewhere entirely at the mercy of the Peak District breeze.

01 The adventure begins…

Watch The Balloon
Come To Life

Morning or evening, weekday or weekend, you’ll meet the crew just outside Buxton before your flight. The balloon is unpacked and laid out across the grass, and things begin to take shape slowly and steadily. It usually takes about an hour from arrival to take-off.

You’re welcome to help with the setup if you’d like — or simply enjoy the atmosphere and changing light while the balloon fills, the burners fire up, and everything gets ready for launch.

02 …the experience unfolds

Rise Into The
Peak District Sky

Once in the air, the views open out fast. Some flights drift across quiet farmland; others head for the hills. You might see Axe Edge rising in the distance, or catch the sunlight moving over the moors. Every flight is different, shaped by the wind and the time of day.

Morning flights are often crisp and clear, while evening ones bring a warmer light and long shadows. Either way, there’s space to breathe — and plenty to look at.

03 And memories made…

Land Somewhere
The Wind Chooses

As the flight winds down, the balloon starts its descent. There’s no set landing spot — it all depends on where the wind takes you — so it’s always a bit of a surprise where you’ll end up. Usually, it’s a quiet field or a stretch of open ground.

Once you’ve landed, there’s a toast to the flight and a chance to take a few photos before the crew picks you up. Then it’s back to Buxton, flight certificate in hand and a good story to tell.

Buxton any day anytime FAQs

The Useful
Bits

A few useful details about the Buxton option with the widest choice of days and departure times.

Does this Buxton voucher really include weekends?

Yes. This is the most flexible Buxton option, with morning or evening departures available from Monday through Sunday, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Can I choose whether to fly in the morning or evening?

Yes. The voucher gives you the choice of a morning or evening departure, subject to availability and suitable flying conditions on your chosen date.

Why choose this over the cheaper Buxton vouchers?

The ballooning experience itself is the same. What you are adding is flexibility: weekends as well as weekdays, with both morning and evening departures available.

How long should I keep free for the experience?

Allow around three to four hours altogether. The flight itself is usually around an hour, with additional time for preparation, landing, the post-flight celebration and return transport.

What if the Peak District weather has other plans?

Balloon flights only operate when conditions are suitable. If the weather prevents your flight from going ahead safely, you can rearrange it for another suitable date.
