As the balloon lifts off, the contrast is immediate — the city slipping away behind, the Peaks starting to open out ahead. Some flights drift out over fields and ridgelines, others towards the edges of the national park. It all depends on the breeze.
You’ll have plenty of time to take it all in — the open space, the change of light, and the way the landscape shifts from up above. The pilot will point out landmarks as you go, and the rest is yours to enjoy.

After about an hour in the air, the balloon will begin its descent, landing wherever the wind has taken you — often somewhere quiet, just beyond the edges of the city.
Once you’ve touched down, you’ll raise a glass to the flight, take a few photos, and return towards Bowshaw Showground with a flight certificate and a fresh story to share — whether it’s with friends that evening or sometime years from now.
